What is the CMRP-to-CAMA Pathway?

The Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification from the Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP) is globally respected and demonstrates a high level of knowledge and competence in maintenance and reliability.

Now, thanks to a formal collaboration between WPiAM and SMRP, professionals holding a CMRP certification can take a streamlined pathway to achieve the Certified Asset Management Assessor (CAMA) Certification.

This pathway recognises the alignment between the CMRP and CAMA Certifications and enables eligible candidates to sit a Gap Exam—a reduced version of the full CAMA exam—focusing only on the differences in knowledge areas between the two certifications.

The pathway was developed following a rigorous mapping process conducted by WPiAM and SMRP, identifying where the CMRP and CAMA bodies of knowledge align, and where they differ.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the CMRP-to-CAMA pathway, candidates must:

  • Hold a CMRP certification (as awarded by SMRP);

  • Provide evidence of a minimum of five (5) years of work experience in Asset Management; and

  • Pass the CAMA Gap Exam

About the Gap Exam

The Gap Exam is a tailored, shortened version of the full CAMA exam. It contains a carefully selected sub-set of questions that assess only the knowledge gaps between the CMRP and CAMA certifications. There are 70 questions, and the exam is 1 hour 20 minutes.  The Gap Exam is delivered online and follows the same format and proctoring process (both AI and human proctors) as the standard CAMA exam.  Exam sessions will be held in the same format as the CAMA exam; sessions are seven-days long and candidates may sit their exam ‘on demand’ during this seven day period.  Exams will run every week of the year except for the Christmas holiday period.
